About MADC

The Madison Area Development Corporation (MADC) is a nonprofit organization focused on supporting economic development in Lake County, South Dakota. Founded in 1963 (and incorporated as the Lake Area Improvement Corporation in 1975), MADC works with local businesses, community leaders, and regional partners to support thoughtful, long-term growth.

We connect businesses with the information, resources, and local insight they need when considering expansion or relocation, including workforce data, available sites, and relevant programs.

Our Mission & Role

MADC’s mission is to strengthen and grow the Madison and Lake County community through strategic economic and community development initiatives that enhance long-term quality of life.

As a connector, facilitator, and problem solver, MADC helps move important projects from idea to reality. We work alongside businesses, local governments, utilities, developers, investors, nonprofits, and funding partners to identify opportunities, build partnerships, and support initiatives that benefit the community and local economy.

We work in collaboration with local and regional partners to:

  • Support business expansion and retention

  • Share information about the area with prospective businesses and residents

  • Connect organizations to resources that support workforce and community development

Our role is to help bring the right people and resources together so projects can move forward with clarity.
